Q: Why TyJoBo?
It is a combination of the first two letters in my First, Middle and Last name. TYler JOseph BOespflug
Q: Why not something else?
- TylerBoespflug.com would be too hard for most to spell.
- TylerB.com was taken.
- I used TheGermanAmerican.com when I was in Germany. I still have it, but I got tired of typing ty@thegermanamerican.com every time I signed up for a service online. Plus, it doesn't really apply much anymore.
- I wasn't feeling creative enough to come up with something else.
More about the site:
After going without a website for myself for years when I got back from Germany I decided it was time to get back to it. This site will allow me to post photos of my life. From family photos, vacations, personal vehicles, house remodeling progress to random photos I may take. I will also use it to post news about myself. How often this will happen has yet to be determined. It will also serve as a contact source for myself. I decided I needed to provide a front for my family and friends to keep in touch with me without funneling it through my freelance business website (Shameless plug: Pixel Puzzler Productions). Finally, it will be my guinea pig. I will use it to try out different scripts and layout options that I may find or write
About Me
I have never been really good at writing an autobiography, so be patient before throwing me to the wolves. My sister once described me as a "Self-Proclaimed Geek." I would have to agree with her. I am not the typical A/V club geek that rocks pocket protectors and thick framed, tape repaired glasses. I consider myself geeky because of my obsession with computers, electronics and tearing things apart to see how they work or "improve them." One sleepless night I took one of those MySpace quizzes out of boredom. "Which Muppet are you?" Not surprisingly, it returned Dr. Bunsen Honeydew. I also find myself relating to poor Beaker at times because often some of the most unthinkable, yet comical, problems will arise for me. (Sidenote: I find myself relating to my childhood heroes more and more often lately.)
I currently work for Dakota Community Bank in their IT department. I am one of two that handles the server management, network management, user support and all of the techie stuff. I like to explain our services in the following way. If it plugs into the wall and it needs to be installed, fixed or replaced it is our job to take care of it. We do the obvious computers, servers, printers, faxes, switches, routers, phones, etc. But I have also worked on vacuum cleaners, toasters, coin sorters and teller machines. I can tear apart one of those teller machines in my sleep. They are nearly ancient and no one provides support or parts for them anymore. Since I was the one that liked to take things apart... I became the resident expert. I also develop and maintain their website and internal intranet site.
Last year I purchased a home in Mandan. I actually ended up purchasing the whole duplex where I was renting. My landlords were building a new house and they knew I was in the market for a home. It worked out well. The best part was I didn't have to move. Most people do the closing on their homes and then jump in the moving truck to begin the fun process of moving. I did not have to do that. I went home, cracked a beer and enjoyed some TV. Since the house was built in the 50's it is in need of some updating and I have been flexing my "DIY/Home Improvement" muscles. It has been going pretty well. I should be finishing a bathroom remodel pretty soon. I completely gutted it and tore up a chunk of the basement floor to reroute the plumbing. Once that is finished I hope to get in some landscaping and overdue yard work. Especially up front where Dad, Cole and I played Paul Bunyan last fall and took down two large Evergreen trees. I hope to get quite a bit done before the snow flies, but if I am anything like my father that won't stop me. He has taught me well. The fact that it is good or bad that I picked up those traits is up for interpretation. I already know what my mom thinks!
I have been dating a wonderful gal named Samantha (she goes by Sam) for 5 years now. She is great, she has found a way to bring the kid in me out to play and I love her for it. We really balance each other out very well. I have known her since high school. We actually went to Prom together. We really aren't high school sweet hearts. We were friends in high school and when I got back from Germany we ended up hitting it off. I never expected her to put up with me for this long and I find out now, the feeling was mutual. Who would have thought? Now, before I get hundreds of emails asking when we are getting engaged or married, I will tell you now what I end up telling people very frequently at work (they're like hawks). We started our relationship off kind of slow so when we are ready to take that next step we will let you know.
There you go. That is a look into the life of Tyler. Don't you feel special now?
